The SonicWall Spike License Pack is a temporary-capacity add-on license that allows customers to increase their remote user count immediately in the event of a disaster or other business disruption. This works like an insurance policy toward any future planned or unplanned eventuality when remote access traffic could spike from current user counts to hundreds or even thousands of additional users. It is ideal as part of a company's overall disaster recovery plan as well as for firms that experience seasonal spikes.

Building on a market-leading reputation for customer support and service, SonicWall created the Spike License Pack to includes global 24x7 customer service and support for the duration of the spike period. The Spike License Pack allows temporary addition of as many as 500 users of the SonicWall Secure Remote Access (SRA) Series. It is available for sudden increases of up to 250 users on the SonicWall Aventail E-Class Secure Remote Access (SRA) EX6000, 5,000 users on the SonicWall Aventail E-Class SRA EX7000 and 20,000 users on the SonicWall Aventail E-Class SRA EX9000.

Start/stop capabilities
Administrators may start and stop the Spike License to allow for a temporary increase in user capacity. For example, if an organization purchases a 30-day Spike License, and encounters an emergency that requires them to use the license for three days, it could then stop their usage, leaving a 27-day remaining balance to use later.
